Dean McHugh
Dean is President of McHugh Excavating & Plumbing, Inc. He served as the firm’s Controller from 1992 to 2005 and also covered the duties of Division Manager for underground construction from 1992 to 2003. Dean McHugh worked as a part time laborer for McHugh Excavating during the summers of 1980 to 1987. He has a Master of Business Administration from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. He previously worked as a Bank Examiner with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Daniel McHugh
Dan is Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Board. He served as President of the company from its founding in 1976 until 2005. He holds a Master Plumber Restricted Sewer license from the State of Wisconsin. Previous experience was as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Daniel McHugh has also participated as a general partner in the development of residential and commercial property.
Steve Olson
Steve serves as Human Resources Director and Safety Director. Steve joined the company in 2002. His duties include safety, company policies, payroll, employee benefits, business insurance, and equal employment opportunity. Previous work experience includes management positions with Kohl’s and Shopko department stores. Steve is currently Vice Chairman of the Safety and Insurance Committee for Wisconsin Underground Contractors Association and an active member of the La Crosse Area Occupational Safety and Health Council.
Mike Wiczek
Mike serves as Division Manager for earthwork projects. He also assists at times in the other divisions. Mike began working with the company in 2004. He has an engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Mike also has experience as a Project Inspector with Rettler Corporation and with surveying work.
Gary Seago
Gary serves as Division Manager for environmental projects. He joined the firm in 1995 to handle contaminated soils cleanup projects. This division has expanded into a wide variety of earthwork and treatment plant projects. Gary Seago’s previous experience included several years as a residential building contractor and work as a general superintendent for a local oil company building and upgrading gas stations and convenience stores.
Walt Schroeder
Walt serves as Division Manager for underground construction. Walt joined the company in 2003. He has an engineering degree from Michigan Technological University. His responsibilities include bid preparation and project management. Previous work experience includes similar positions most recently at Fox Construction and Joe Daniels Construction in the Madison, Wisconsin area.
